July 3, 2009–The public memorial for Michael Jackson next Tuesday will be at the Staples Center.  Staples Center exec Tim Leiweke says 17,500 tickets free tickets will be provided, and there also will be a free worldwide video feed.

June 25, 2009–Michael Jackson, the world’s greatest pop star died on Thursday afternoon in L.A. He was 50.  According to reports on the Los Angeles Times' web site, Jackson was rushed midday Thursday from his home to a Los Angeles hospital, where he could not be revived.

June 21, 2009–Columbia Pictures has decided not to go ahead with “Moneyball,”  Steven Soderbergh's film, starring Brad Pitt starrer, which was supposed to begin production Monday in Phoenix.

June 20, 2009–Sandra Bullock-Ryan Reynolds romantic comedy “The Proposal” grossed an estimated $12.4 millon from 3,056 runs to win the Friday box office and earn Bullock the best opening day gross of her long career.

May 27, 2009–Al Pacino will star in HBO’s film about right-to-die champion Dr. Jack Kevorkian, which Barry Levinson will direct.
