September 7, 2007–IFC announced the first official buy at the Toronto Film Festival on Friday, nabbing North American rights to Icelandic thriller “Jar City.” The movie, which won top honors at Karlovy Vary in July and is the top native grosser in Iceland's history, will be distributed via the company's First Take initiative.

August 9, 2007–Venice Film Festival will pay tribute to John Ford with the world premiere of a freshly restored print of his celebrated Western, “The Iron Horse,” accompanied by “Becoming John Ford,” a new docu by Nick Redman about Hollywood's most lauded director.

August 9, 2007–Toronto International Film Festival announces 13 titles by up-and-coming filmmakers to screen in this year's Discovery programme, joining the previously announced title THOSE THREE.

August 1, 2007–Films with gay themes and/or characters will be recognised with a new award at the 2007 Venice Film Festival. The Queer Lion award, a take on the festival's main Golden Lion prize, will go to the best full-length film featuring a gay theme or character.
