Cannes Film Fest 2007–“Roman de Gare,” the French thriller starring Fanny Ardant that will screen at Cannes Film Fest, is not the work of first-time helmer Picard but of Claude Lelouch.

November 5, 2007–Ed Burns' “Purple Violets” won the narrative feature at the 10th Savannah Film Festival's closing awards ceremony Saturday. A dozen awards were given out at the ceremony, with Will Frears winning narrative short for his “All Saint's Day.”

September 25, 2007–Sundance Institute and the Skoll Foundation announced today a $3 million, three-year partnership dedicated to exploring film's role in advancing knowledge about social entrepreneurship. The grant will support the launch of STORIES OF CHANGE: SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN FOCUS THROUGH DOCUMENTARY, a new initiative spearheaded by the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program.

September 15, 2007–At the Toronto Film Fest (Canada, September 6-15, 2007), the Fipresci prize went to “La zona,” by Rodrigo Pl?° (Spain /Mexico, 2007), which was shown in the Discovery section.

September 13, 2007–Vadim Perelman's “In Bloom” sold North American rights to to Magnolia, sister company of the picture's producer, 2929 Prods., marking the first time the two have teamed.
