December 5, 2007–Slamdance Film Festival announced its line-up today, with “Real Time,” written and directed by Randall Cole, kicking off the fest. Picture, which stars Randy Quaid and Jay Baruchel, deals with a gambler who is given an hour to live by a hitman. The Festival runs Jan. 17-25, concurrently to Sundance.

The World Premiere section includes an impressive line of 24 films, including “Assassination of a High School President,” directed by Brett Simon and starring Bruce Willis, Mischa Barton, Michael Rapaport; “Be Kind Rewind,” directed and written by Michel Gondry, with Mos Def, Jack Black, Mia Farrow and Danny Glover; “Death in Love,” directed and written by Boaz Yakin, featuring With Josh Lucas, Jacqueline Bisset, and Adam Brody.

The broad range of cinematic expression in this year's Festival is found not simply in terms of the volume of submissions or its demographics but in the variety of types of filmmakers and the issues they explore. November 19, 2007–The 2008 Sundance Film Fest will open with the world premiere of the provocative Comedy, “In Brugs,” Starring Ralph Fiennes, Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Ciar?°n Hinds. The screening will take place January 17, in Park City.

November 9, 2007–Marco Mueller will be reappointed artistic director of the Venice Film Festival for four more years due to move by Italian culture minister Francesco Rutelli, which will give the Lido much-needed continuity.
