"Where the Wild Things Are," directed by Spike Jonze, is the feature film of the popular Maurice Sendak children's book of the same name. The film is being released October 16, 2009 by Warner Bros.
The film began with Jonze's abiding affection and respect for the book, written and illustrated by Sendak, another strong believer in not talking down to young people. Published in 1963, it earned a Caldecott Medal and went on to touch millions of readers worldwide, perpetually ranked by Publishers Weekly as one of the 10 all-time best-selling books for children since the 1970s.

Featuring stills from Sendak’s early life and excerpts from his books, the film paints a fascinating and often hilarious portrait of an artist who vividly identified with children, even as a young man. “I have adult thoughts, experiences, but I’m never going to talk about them,” he explains. “I’m never going to write about them. Why is my needle stuck in childhood? I don’t know why.”

August 20, 2009 – Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment announced today that Michael Jackson THIS IS IT will be released exclusively for a special, limited, two-week engagement worldwide, with the studio pushing up the debut of the film by two days, to Wednesday, October 28th. Due to the anticipated demand for this film, tickets for the two-week presentation will go on sale in most cities beginning on Sunday, September 27th.
