March 25, 2008–The Tribeca Film Festival today announced that “Redbelt,” written and directed by David Mamet, will have its world premiere at the 2008 Tribeca Film Fest. “Redbelt” will also serve as the Gala premiere of the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival. Redbelt, a Sony Pictures Classics presentation, stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Emily Mortimer, Alice Braga and Tim Allen. The premiere will take place on Friday, April 25. The Festival runs April 23-May 4.

March 11, 2008–SXSW announced the winners today of the 2008 edition of the SXSW Film Festival. The Grand Jury Award for Documentary was “They Killed Sister Dorothy,” by Daniel Junge, and Grand Jury Award for Narrative was “Wellness,” by Jake Mahaffy.

February 13, 2008–Sundance Institute has announced Bob Byington as the newest filmmaker to receive support through the Annenberg Film Fellowship Program, created in 2004 to identify and foster a new generation of leading film artists. Based in Austin, Byington is currently in pre-production on his upcoming feature HARMONY AND ME.

February 12, 2008–The South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference & Festival announced its complete slate of panels and workshops for the 15th annual event in Austin. The SXSW Film
Conference will take place in the Austin Convention Center during March 8-11, and is open to all SXSW Film, Gold, and Platinum registrants.
