April 23, 2008–Soderbergh?¢¬Ä¬ôs two biopics about Che and Clint Eastwood?¢¬Ä¬ôs ?¢¬Ä¬úThe Changeling,?¢¬Ä starring Angelina Jolie, are among the high-profile entries at the 61st Festival de Cannes. Other American films, both both studio and indie fare, are also in the various sections.

April 22, 2008–Clint Eastwood's “Changeling,” a mystery thriller starring Angelina Jolie, will be part of the competition lineup at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. The full slate of Cannes Official Selection entries will be announced Wednesday in Paris.

This year‚Äôs Golden Tulip winner for the international competition was the Turkish film “Egg,” by Semih Kaplanoglu, which had its world premier in Cannes last year. Omer Vargi‚Äôs drama “For Love” and Honor screened out of competition, it had already taken top honors at the Turkish box-office with over two million admissions.

April 2, 2008–Forty years after Cannes Directors‚Äô Fortnight was born out of protests by Francois Truffaut, Jean Luc Godard and others at the ouster of Henri Langlois from the French Cinematheque, the event kicks off its 40th anni celebrations in Athens and Thessaloniki. In the Langlois spirit, the main event in Greece is a retrospective of Fortnight films, playing April 3-16, focusing on French titles.

March 24, 2008–Provincetown International Film Festival Executive Director Gabby Hanna, Artistic Director Connie White and Director of Programming Andrew Peterson announced today that the 2008 Filmmaker on the Edge Award will be awarded to writer/director Quentin Tarantino (?¢¬Ä¬úReservoir Dogs,?¢¬Ä ?¢¬Ä¬úPulp Fiction,?¢¬Ä ?¢¬Ä¬úKill Bill, ?¢¬Ä¬úDeath Proof?¢¬Ä). The prestigious film festival?¢¬Ä¬ôs 10th Anniversary celebration will take place in Provincetown, Massachusetts from June 18-22.
