June 3, 2010 – The 2010 Rome Film Festival, which runs from October 28 to November 5, pays tribute to Ugo Tognazzi on the twentieth anniversary of his death, with the world premiere to be screened during the Festival:  the documentary Ritratto di mio padre (Portrait of My Father), directed by Tognazzi’s daughter Maria Sole Tognazzi. In addition, every film in competition in the Festival’s various sections will be preceded by a montage of Tognazzi’s greatest performances spanning his entire career. The Festival as well, will show Ricky Tognazzi’s new film Il padre e lo straniero, based on the novel of the same name by Giancarlo De Cataldo and starring Alessandro Gassman and Ksenia Rappoport.

Cannes Film Fest 2010— Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul's "Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives" won the Festival de Cannes' top honor, the coveted Palme d'Or, as the 63rd annual Festival de Cannes wrapped Sunday night.
 

Vet British director Ken Loach, whose "Looking for Eric" screened at last year's Festival de Cannes, is returning to the Croisette with his new Iraq-set drama "Route Irish." The festival officially announced Monday that it is adding Loach's latest film to its schedule just two days before the event kicks off.

May 1, 2010 – The ninth annual Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) announced the winner of The Heineken Audience Award – “RUSH: Beyond the Lighted Stage” – tonight at The Altman Building in New York City.  The film’s directors Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn will receive a cash prize of $25,000.

May 3, 2010 – Outfest, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing, showcasing and protecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media, announced today that “HOWL” has been selected as the Opening Night gala of the 28th Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. The debut narrative feature from acclaimed documentarians Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, starring James Franco, David Strathairn, Jon Hamm, Mary-Louise Parker and Jeff Daniels, will screen at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles on July 8.
