Chloe Okuno’s first feature, Watcher, is an impressive horror movie announcing a major talent to be watched.

When Julia moves to Bucharest for the new job of her husband Francis (Karl Klusman), she struggles to adjust to her new surroundings and feels discomfort.

One day, she sees a man (Burn Gorman) watching her from the apartment across the street in the midst of news that a serial killer is beheading local women.

Soon it becomes a matter of life and death as her feelings and suspicions are suggested to be mania and mental illness by the men around her.

Savvy viewers will detect the influence of such horror maestros as Hitchcock and Polanski.

Okuno adds her own stamp to horror’s tradition of voyeurism and paranoia.
