Like his previous biopic, Jackie, Pablo Larraín’s new original feature, Spencer, dissects another legendary historical character, this time around Princess Diana.
In the process, he constructs a tale that is effective as a blistering satire of the British monarchy, a psychological portrait with facets of Princess Diana unseen before, and ultimately, a story that begins as a fairy tale and turns out to be a Gothic horror show.
