Clint Eastwood’s legendary career as an actor and director appears to be coming to an end after more than six decades and nearly 50 films.
According to reports, Eastwood is getting ready to direct what will be his final film.
The film will be produced by Warner, where Eastwood has worked on projects for nearly 50 years.
Since the release of Gran Torino in 2008, Eastwood has directed 10 more films for Warner, including Invictus, Sully, American Sniper, and Richard Jewell.
Cry Macho, his most recent film, was released in September 2021 by HBOMax and Warner Bros.
The studio’s collaboration with Eastwood signals shift in attitude from new CEO David Zaslav. Following Discovery’s acquisition of WarnerMedia last year, Zaslav reportedly questioned those involved in greenlighting Cry Macho solely because of Eastwood’s involvement. ‘We don’t owe anyone any favors,’ Zaslav stated. However, recent developments indicate that the executive’s position may have shifted.
Clint Eastwood’s Last Film Details
While Eastwood is committed to writing and directing the film, it is unclear whether Juror #2 will be his final project.
Though the film is labeled as such, Eastwood has not personally stated his intentions regarding retirement. However, with the four-time Oscar winner about to turn 93 and over 5 decades in the director’s chair, retirement is almost certain. No additional information has been released, but it has been suggested that Eastwood is looking for a young Hollywood star to play the lead role.
Juror #2 will be Eastwood’s 40th directed film, adding to his illustrious acting career.
