Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s movies defy content summary or easy genre categorization.
To describe them as surreal or dreamlike is just part of the process, since you never know who is doing the dreaming.
In this film, it might be Jessica (Tilda Swinton), a Scottish expatriate living in Colombia, or it might be alien visitors, the filmmaker, the Earth or time itself.
Memoria generates powerful emotions that are difficult, if not impossible, to define, but nonethelss absorbingly felt.
