In 1976, upon the release of Rocky, which was a commercial hit and won the Best Picture Oscar, star Sylvester Stallone told the N.Y. Times: “I don’t think that even women’s lib wants all men to become limp-wrested librarians.  There doesn’t seem to be enough real men to go around.”
