When Jerry Greenberg won the Best Editing Oscar for The French Connection, which swept the 1971 Oscars for Best Picture, Director (William Friedkin), and Actor (Gene Hackman), he thanked the “New York subway system.”
The film’s most famous and talked about scenes were the chases between Hackman’s car and the subway in which the villain was riding.
