The voting runs from January 12-17, and nominations will be announced January 24.

The 95th Oscars will be held March 12 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Argentina, Argentina, 1985

Argentina, 1985, the new film from director Santiago Mitre (Paulina, The Summit), premiered in competition at Venice Film Festival. The film is also about political violence and the attempt to impose democracy through the rule of law, which makes it even more relevant in light of the January 6 resurrection on the U.S. Capitol

The film is inspired by the true story of Julio Strassera and Luis Moreno Ocampo, the public prosecutors who, together with a young and untested legal team, put Argentina’s military on trial. In 1985, they dared to prosecute the architects of Argentina’s bloody “dirty war.”

Argentina, 1985 was shown in select theaters on Sep. 30 and bowed on Amazon Prime on Oct. 21.
