Toronto Film Fest 2013: Big Deal, Small Box-Office

The Toronto Film Fest showed just how difficult the indie business has become in a blockbuster-obsessed Hollywood. Being gunshy may turn out to make more financial sense.

In 2013, the big deals included “Begin Again” with Keira Knightley and “What If” with Daniel Radcliffe, nut neither fully ignited at the box office.

Only the sci-fi picture, “Oculus,” with its $27.7 million gross, managed to effectively find an audience.
