“Man on Wire” is James Marsh‚Äôs third feature film. After graduating from Oxford University, Marsh worked as a researcher and then a director for the BBC. His breakthrough docu, “Troubleman,” (1994) chronicled the last years of soul singer Marvin Gaye and his murder at the hands of his father, a fundamentalist preacher and occasional transvestite.

June 17, 2008–Dancer and movie star Cyd Charisse died of cardiac arrest Tuesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, her longtime business manager Stan Schneider disclosed. She was 86.

June 9, 2008–Dino Risi, one of Italy's great post-WWII filmmakers, who received a Oscar-nomination as the writer of the original “Scent of a Woman,” which he also directed, has died of heart attack. He was 91.
