After Sunset Boulevard, William Holden was reunited with Billy Wilder in Stalag 17 (1953), for which Holden won the Best Actor Oscar.

n 1994 he was given the Honorary Oscar Award “in recognition of his place as one of the cinema’s master visual stylists,” presented to him by Jack Nicholson. Previously, he had been Oscar nominated for Best Director and Best Screenplay for Blowup.

McQueen earned his only Academy Award nomination in 1966 for his role as an engine-room sailor in The Sand Pebbles, in which he starred opposite Candice Bergen and Richard Attenborough (with whom he had worked in The Great Escape).
