May 17, 2008–Danny Glover will reprise his stage role in the big-screen adaptation of Athol Fugard's apartheid play “Master Harold and the Boys.” The film will be directed by Lonny Price, who directed Glover in the recent Broadway revival and played opposite him in the stage production 20 years ago.

April 12, 2008–Screen Gems' “Prom Night” yesterday grossed $9.6 million at 2,700 locations, the highest opening day for an April horror picture. “Prom” surpassed the $9.1 million made by Sony-MGM-Dimension's 2005 slasher “Amityville Horror” on its first day. Its final figure should size up to “Amityville's” $23.5 million.

March 15, 2008–the animation “Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who” scored at the box-office Friday, grossing $13.2 million from 3,954 theaters.
“Horton” posted the third best opening day for a pre-summer animated picture and a Fox-Blue Sky Studios production, ranking behind 2006's “Ice Age: Meltdown” ($21.8 million) and 2002's “Ice Age” ($13.5 million).

February 28, 2008–New Line Cinema co-chairmen and co-CEOs Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne will leave the studio as part of a consolidation of Time Warner's film operations unveiled Thursday afternoon.

February 25, 2008–Sunday‚Äôs Oscar telecast on ABC took a tumble in the ratings, attracting the show‚Äôs smallest audience on record. The reasons: Violent films with mostly dark grim themes, largeky made out of the mainstream, combined with an awards season that lacked any momentum thanks to the writers strike.
