October 16, 2008–Mandalay Pictures and Steve Zaillian will produce the biopic “My Dinner With Herve” through their co-venture Film Rites, which has a first-look deal with Sony. Former journalist Sacha Gervasi, who will write and direct the film, conducted the last interview with French actor Herve Villechaize, Tattoo on the TV series “Fantasy Island,” just days before the actor committed suicide.

October 15, 2008–Warner has hired Brad Ingelsby to write “Sleeper,” an adaptation of the DC Comics-Wildstorm comic being produced by Sam Raimi with Star Road Entertainment partner Josh Donen.

Oct 7, 2008–As part of a long-term deal, “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” “The First Avenger: Captain America” and “The Avengers” will shoot at Raleigh. The productions will take place over the next three years.

Oct 5, 2008–Zhang Ziyi will star in the Chinese romantic comedy “Sophie's Revenge.” The China-South Korea co-production is co-developed by Korea's CJ Entertainment and Zhang, who will also serve as producer.

Sep 24, 2008–Michael Moore will release his new film “Slacker Uprising” online for free, but the world premiere will take place in a movie house, on Thursday at the historic Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, which seats 1,700.
