During the shoot, Cukor became so enraged that he struck Katharine Hepburn across the face. Hepburn was to run upstairs with a plate of food. Beforehand, Cukor warned her, “be careful, don't laugh, because I'll kill you if you do.” But in making her way up the stairs, she slipped and spilled the ice-cream on her one and only dress. Furious, Cukor hit her while screaming, “You, amateur.”

Superman and I were both adopted. I was an only child and he was an only child. For those basic reasons, I have always felt a real connection to him and that's why he is my favorite Super Hero. That's why it was so important for me to tell my Superman story my way.
