April 30, 2008–Former Turin Film Festival co-head Giulia D‚ÄôAgnolo Vallan has joined the Venice Film Festival as its U.S. programmer.
New York-based D’Agnolo Vallan, who previously worked with Venice between 2003-2006, will assist director Marco Mueller in scouting out American films for selection.

April 30, 2008–?¢¬Ä¬úHome,?¢¬Ä the second feature from Swiss helmer Ursula Meier (?¢¬Ä¬úStrong Shoulders?¢¬Ä), will have its world premiere as part of the Critics?¢¬Ä¬ô Week sidebar in Cannes.

April 29, 2008–The Tribeca Film Institute has awarded its 2008 Media Arts Fellowships to 20 filmmakers and media artists, who each receive $35,000. Funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, awards are presented in narrative, documentary, experimental, installation and computer-generated media genres.

April 28, 2008–Fortissimo Films has picked up international rights to Brillante Mendoza's “Serbis” (Service), the first Filipino picture in 24 years to play as official selection at the Cannes Film Fest. The feature is set around a run-down movie theater and involves multiple stories about a matriarchal Filipino family.

April 28, 2008–The Coen brothers?¢¬Ä¬ô ?¢¬Ä¬úBurn After Reading?¢¬Ä will open the 65th Venice Film Festival.
