August 22, 2008–In January 2009, the Slamdance Film Festival, the preeminent festival whose sole mission is to nurture, support and showcase truly independent works, is celebrating a milestone: The 15th Anniversary. From now until next summer, Slamdance will commemorate this watershed year with a series of special events and happenings, beginning next month with alumni directors Christopher Nolan and Steven Soderbergh screening their Slamdance¬ñdebuted films, followed by Q & A sessions and parties.

August1, 2008–The Sundance Institute announced today the selection of seven filmmakers as the 2008 Annenberg Film Fellows: Fellipe Barbosa, Frank Budgen, Daniel Casey, John Magary, Moon Molson, and Lara Foot Newton and Gerard Marx. For the past five years, the Annenberg Film Fellows Program has helped provide direct financial support towards the realization of the Fellows¬í projects. Each of the Fellows will receive a living stipend or grant to support the further development of their projects and next steps in planning for production.

July 26, 2008–“The Chaser,” Korea's biggest box office hit, won best picture at the Puchon Fantastic Film Festival on Friday. “The Chaser” was selected as the Puchon Choice, the only competition section of the festival.

British director Michael Winterbottom will show the Colin Firth vehicle “Genova,” about a family that moves to Italy to try to start anew after the death of the mother.
