“Mother,” the latest feature from Bong Joon-ho, has been selected to represent Korea for the best foreign language film in the next year's Oscar.  The film, which world premiered in Cannes Fest has just been included in the N.Y. Film Fest.   The strength of the story's narrative, its potential for a wide release in the U.S. and the director's reputation were considered as priorities for the final contender, the Korean Film Council said.

Toronto – The 34th Toronto International Film Festival adds 11 films to its Contemporary World Cinema (CWC) schedule and seven films to its Visions programme. CWC provides audiences with an annual snapshot of trends in global cinema.

Kingdom and the U.S. These new films join the nineteen previously announced Special Presentations.

The 34th Toronto International Film Festival opens September 10 with the world premiere Gala Presentation of Creation, directed by Jon Amiel (The Core, Entrapment,The Man Who Knew Too Little). Produced by Jeremy Thomas, the film tells the life story of Charles Darwin starring Paul Bettany (The Da Vinci Code, Wimbledon, A Beautiful Mind) as Darwin and Jennifer Connelly (He’s Just Not That Into You, The Day the Earth Stood Still, A Beautiful Mind) as his wife, Emma.
